HANDLING DISAPPOINTMENT

Most people usually get stuck in their disappointments. Sadness about the non-fulfillment of expectations should not break you or your relationship with God. As a child of God, you can handle the pressure of disappointment.  The devil takes advantage of your disappointment, he whispers to you that you can’t pray at this moment, you can’t praise God right now because you are upset. The enemy delights when he sees you in such a state. In this world people will disappoint you, things will disappoint you, but you should always know your place. The choice is yours, to break the disappointment and move on or to let it break you.

Don’t worry about anything; instead, pray about everything. Tell God what you need, and thank him for all he has done. Then you will experience God’s peace, which exceeds anything we can understand. His peace will guard your hearts and minds as you live in Christ Jesus. -Philippians 4:6-7

Being disappointed does not bring any answers, worry doesn’t fix things. You should give all your burdens and sorrows to God. Ask God to fulfill His plan for your life. The fact that you have at some point failed doesn’t mean that you are a failure. Setbacks don’t always mean you should quit and give up. May I take this opportunity to speak to someone who is disappointed right now…trust God about your life. This is not the end of the road. Rise and move forward for the word of God says though you walk through the valley of the shadow of death, you shall fear no evil. You don’t stay in the valley, you don’t die in the die, you don’t end in the valley, but you walk through the valley of the shadow of death.
